Why Year In The Life? Grandparents

I have such fond memories of my time with my grandparents and most of those have been documented photographically. They are all gone now, which can still be sad sometimes. But I keep their memories alive with me always through my treasured images.

We used to visit my grandpa, my mom’s dad, every Sunday afternoon. It was our weekly routine. He would always have treats for us. Whoppers and Mini Butterfingers in a big glass canister in his refrigerator. We’d spend time chatting together at his kitchen table where the police scanner would chatter to us at a low volume. We’d watch for the squirrels he would feed out the large kitchen window. My sister and I would duck out while he and mom chatted and attempt to play a game of Monopoly or catch up on his latest Readers Digest issue.

We also spent a lot of time with my paternal grandparents. My dad, sister, and I did a lot of cross country road trips with them. My grandpa and I would celebrate our birthdays together every summer since they were only just a few days apart. And then there were the holidays together, eating dinner quickly so we and the cousins could get to opening gifts and playing games afterwards.

Now that they’re all gone I’m so thankful for the pictures I have with them. I get to share those with my children and share memories of family they never knew or knew too little.

Grandparents hold a special place in our heart and in our world. My own children now have very special relationships with each of their grandparents that I treasure immensely.

Why choose a Year In The Life membership? So you can lock in these special memories with grandparents for many years to come.
