Home Is Where My ❤️ Heart Is!

Home is where the heart is. At least, that’s where MY heart is these days. For the last year I’ve been searching my heart in terms of where I want to take my photography business. I’ve always had a passion for photographing my family very candidly, recording our day to day moments in an artful way and when Covid brought my business to a screeching halt a year ago, that really caused me to start thinking about where I want to see the future of my business heading. That being said I’m excited to announce that I’m going to be moving to exclusively shooting documentary family portraits.

Why the change?

The tagline for my business has always been “real art from real life”, but I haven’t really felt like the work I’ve been creating has connecting with that part of my heart or my brand. I have loved working with so many amazing families over the years, meeting them at different beautiful parks around the Denver and Littleton areas. But I’ve felt like working in that particular way hasn’t really been filling my creative soul or helping me cast the artistic vision I have for my family sessions. What I love and desire most is to be in the home, a place that is comfortable and special, doing life with families in real and honest ways, and photographing that unique connection that makes them who they truly are. Creating real art from their real life.

What will the change look like?

The biggest take away is this; I will be doing on location shoots in a very limited capacity moving forward. If you have already scheduled an outdoor on-location session with me, every part of that will remain the same. In the coming months you’ll see a transformation take place in my online presence that reflects this change. I will be working on updating my website to exclusively show my documentary work, and you’ll see that change as well on all my social media platforms. And there will be new packages and product offerings that will compliment this new style too.

Will you still be doing school pictures?

Oh, my, yes!!! I have such a heart for my schools and creating artful images of students that are timeless and beautiful. That part of my business will not change. In fact, I desperately want that part to grow in the coming year. If you know of a school searching for something unique and special, please reach out to me. I’m always taking school referrals. I’m also hoping to do more school portrait sessions in my home. Stay tuned as I’m also cooking up a plan to offer pop-up school sessions in different areas with the help of people like you!

I’d love your support!

I realize that this is a very different approach to family photography and it’s not for everyone. Maybe you’ve never considered what this would look like for yourself and your family. I want to encourage you to think about giving it a try. If you’ve ever wished that someone would come into your home and simply document your family, just as you are, let’s do it! I’ll be putting out a series of blog posts in the coming weeks on what documentary family portraits look like and how they can benefit your family.

I cannot thank everyone enough for your support over the years and your referrals to friends and family. Thank you for allowing me to share my heart. I can’t wait to celebrate this transition with you all soon!
